FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - Columbia Motorsports Park- 12-2-01
LAKE CITY, Fla. - Dick Anderson cemented his 2001 Florida Pro Series championship in grand style Sunday afternoon with a strong victory in the Suwannee Truss 200 at Columbia Motorsports Park.
Pole sitter Shane Sawyer paced the 28 car field for only a single lap before the yellow flag waved for a three car tangle involving Rich Pratt, Jonny Kay and Rick Carlton. Pratt was the only one of the three able to continue. Sawyer's bright red mount continued out front until Anderson had picked his way through traffic and took command for the first time on lap 23. On lap 100 the leaders hit pit road with Anderson still in command.
With the field back to full speed Anderson's car seemed to slow at the lap 120 mark with Jimmy Cope the new leader as Anderson struggled with a handling problem. The field came under yellow on lap 178 for a two car tangle involving Brian Finney and Kevin Dicks. Six laps later the green flag waved again with Cope having engine problems, a cylinder gone bad. Jeff Scofield had worked his way to third by this point and he pressured Cope who had given way to Anderson on lap 187. Try as they might no one could advance and the leaders crossed the stripe in the same order. Finney and Sawyer completed the top five runners.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - Ocala Speedway- 10-20-01
OCALA, Fla. - As he has done most of the season, veteran Dick Anderson proved his superiority in winning the Florida Pro Series event Saturday night at Ocala Speedway.
Scheduled for 100 laps around the D-shaped oval, the event was called complete after 68 laps when Scott Grossenbacher crashed hard in turn four. Running second at the time, Grossenbacher's car suffered apparent brake failure and slammed nearly head-on into the outside wall, flipped and caught fire. The young driver quickly scrambled from the inferno without injury although his car was nearly destroyed.
Pole sitter Mac Johnson started from the pole and led the first 20 circuits around the 3/8 mile oval but when he slipped off turn four on the next circuit fast qualifier Anderson used the bottom lane to gain the lead. Once in front FPS point leader Anderson turned up the wick and was easily in command when the red flag flew for the Gosssenbacher incident. The final rundown behind Anderson was Jonny Kay, Mike Fritts, Tate Pierce and Fain Skinner. Sixth went to Mike Bresnahan over Grossenbacher, the final car on the lead lap, Johnson, Rob McCalip, David Logan, Jeremy Fehrenbach and Rich Pratt.
The next event is Nov. 17 at DeSoto Speedway in Bradenton with the season finale set for Dec 1 and 2 at Columbia Motorsports Park in Lake City.
FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - Hialeah Speedway- 10-6-01
HIALEAH, Fla. - Dick Anderson proved once again why he is the leading late model driver in Florida this season as he took the lead on lap 33 and sped to the victory in the Florida Pro Series Bill Flingos Memorial 100 Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.
Things got off on the wrong foot as several cars tangled on the opening lap with fast qualifier James Powell one of the victims. With the field realigned the green flag few with pole man Jim McCoy in command. Anderson, who started the century run from third spot, quickly pressured second running Mike Bresnahan and got past him on lap two and began to work on leader McCoy.
Lap after lap they circled the flat third-mile oval in the same order with Anderson looking both inside and outside of McCoy. Finally, off turn two on lap 33, McCoy slipped and Anderson shot into the top spot with Bresnahan following in the runner-up slot. They ran to the checkers in that order followed by Mike Franklin, Jr, local driver Danny Maddox and Scott Grossenbacher.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - COLUMBIA MOTORSPORTS PARK- 9-1-01
LAKE CITY, Fla. - Florida Pro Series point leader Dick Anderson rebounded from a hard crash two weeks previous to capture Saturday nights 125 lap FPS event at Columbia Motorsports Park.
Fast qualifier Jonny Kay, making his first ever start for owner Tommy Sytsma, started from the pole position after the redraw and quickly began to put distance on the balance of the 19 car field. Anderson, in a new mount for Jimmy Harris, started from the ninth slot and quickly began picking his way through traffic around the half-mile oval.
Several minor yellows kept the field from getting stretched far out and Anderson continued his march toward the point. Once Anderson had tracked Kay down he set him up and made the pass on the bottom side out of turn four on lap 74 for the lead and began to build his margin to the checkers. Kay never gave up and brought his new mount home second ahead of James Powell III, top rookie Mike Bresnahan and Scott Grossenbacher.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - DESOTO SPEEDWAY- 8-18-01
BRADENTON, Fla. - Third year late model driver Justin Drawdy was in the right place at the right time and when leader Dick Anderson had problems on lap 110 Drawdy took command and raced to the biggest victory of his career in the Florida Pro Series 125 Saturday night at DeSoto Speedway.
Qualifying was rained out after a furious storm in the afternoon and the field was started by a combination of draw and points with Jeff Emery setting the early pace on the banked 3/8 mile oval. On lap 10 Anderson and Shane Sawyer tangled and both went to the rear of the 21 car field. Anderson, in Jimmy Harris' No. 00, wasted no time knifing his way toward the point and by lap 44 he was in control.
While no one seemed to have anything for the fleet Anderson, young Drawdy, with veteran Pete Orr heading his crew, was driving a steady, heads up race and looking for any opportunity to advance his position as he occupied the runner-up spot.
On lap 110, heading into turn one, the right front tire on Andeson's mount suddenly went flat and he went straight into the wall, heavily damaging the car but escaping any injury himself. Drawdy took over at this point and ran to the checkers over Jonathan Brown and pole sitter Scott Grossenbacher. Sawyer and hot rookie Mike Bresnehan rounded out the top five finishers. The series now moves to the fast half-mile at Columbia Motorsports Park in Lake City on Labor Day weekend.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - OCALA SPEEDWAY- 6-9-01
OCALA, Fla. - Believing in the addage that it is better to be lucky than good, veteran Wayne Anderson inherited the lead on lap 97 and held off the challenges of his dad Dick Anderson to win Saturday nights Florida Pro Series 100 lap late model headliner at Ocala Speedway.
James Powell III joined Scott Grossenbacher in the front row for the century run and quickly put Mark Cowheard's fleet number 37 on the point. Powell was soon joined by Jonny Kay as the two bobbed an weaved their way around the 3/8 mile oval.
As the race progressed lapped traffic became more of a problem and finally, with only a handful of laps remaining, Kay made a run on Powell as a pair of lapped racers figured in the mix. Kay and Powell made contact in turn 1 with Powell a spinner and both were sent to the rear of the field for the restart.
Wayne Anderson, running a car borrowed from Troy Drawdy, drove the final three laps with his dad in his mirrors and they crossed the stripe in that order over Rich Pratt, Grossenbacher, and Powell. Michael Williams checkered sixth ahead of Kay, Mike Franklin, Jr, John Carter Jr and Rob Elting.
With the win Wayne Andeson became the third different winner in six events this season. The series now moves to Cordele, Ga for a July 28 event.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - COLUMBIA MOTORSPORTS PARK- 5-26-01
LAKE CITY, Fla. - Rookie Mike Bresnahan scored one for the new guys Saturday night as he led the final three laps to capture the Florida Pro Series Pepsi 125 late model event at Columbia Motorsports Park.
With only a handful of laps remaining it appeared that points leader Dick Anderson would register his fourth win this season but it was not to be. Challenger Mac Johnson made contact with Anderson's mount with Johnson's No. 6 entry flipping and sliding down the front chute on the roof. Johnson scrambled from his car unhurt while Anderson took his Jimmy Harris-owned car to the pits for repairs.
Fast qualifier and pole sitter Jonny Kay paced the first 39 circuits on the high banked half-mile oval before sixth starting James Powell wrestled the top spot away. By lap 50 Anderson had caught Powell but had to be content to shadow his every move as he waited for the right opportunity to run for the lead. On lap 112 Donnie Oden dropped some water and spun as did leader Powell who suffered a flat tire in the process and Anderson took the point. Behind Bresnahan was fellow rookie Brian Finney, Anderson, Scott Grossenbacher and Jeff Emery. The second five consisted of Powell, Hubert Simmons, Rick Carlton, Shane Sawyer and Kevin Dicks.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - BRONSON MOTOR SPEEDWAY- 4-28-01
The Florida Pro Series late models invaded Bronson Motor Speedway Saturday night and as expected Dick Anderson wheeled his familiar black No. 92 to victory in the 100 lap feature event.
Starting fifth in the 20 car field, Anderson, who was the fastest qualfier at 13.23 fell in line third behind leader Mac Johnson and former series champion Mike Franklin, Jr as they worked the high banked 1/4 mile oval in fighter plane formation. Franklin surrendered second spot to Anderson on lap 26 as Johnson continued to set the pace.
Turning up the pressure as only he can do, Anderson filled the mirror of Johnson's No. 6 while looking for a route to the lead. The two bumped briefly on lap 53 with Johnson slipping up the track and stopping. A yellow waved and Johnson was sent to the rear with Anderson the new point man with Franklin second.
A heated battle for third spot saw rookie Mike Bresnahan and Shane Sawyer racing hard lap after lap with the former finally getting the spot on lap 83. They ran to the checkers in that same order with Anderson recording his third win in four starts this season and his only loss, at Hialeah, saw him finish second. Rick Carlton, Scott Grossenbacher, Jonny Kay, Jeff Scofield, David Russell and Jeff Sloan completed the top 10 in the century run.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - HIALEAH SPEEDWAY- 4-14-01
Using home track advantage and a front row starting spot, Jonny Kay led all 100 circuits to win Saturday night's Florida Pro Series 100 lap late model event at Hialeah Speedway.
Series rookie David Logan and Kay began paced the 24 car field on the table flat oval but it took a trio of starts to finally get the show underway. Kay had his familiar No. 48 working to perfection as he quickly put some distance on Logan as Darryl Shelnut and Dick Anderson fell in formation in third and fourth respectively as things began to settle down. Shelnut, driving for Mark Cowheard on a one time basis, put his mount under Logan for second on lap 23 with several others following. The red flag flew on lap 57 for a three car tangle involving Mario Capone, Todd Anglani and Shane Sawyer.
By lap 75 it appeared that Kay had begun to slow a bit but was aware that Anderson was using every trick in his big book to figure a way past Shelnut and didn't want to abuse the tires. "I knew sooner or later it was going to be Dickie (Anderson) in my mirror," explained Kay. "When he got there I wanted to have enough left to give him a battle."
As the laps quickly ticked off it appeared that Anderson's patient battle was going for naught but on lap 97 Shelnut bumped the wall off turn four then veered hard right into the concrete near turn one in a violent incident. Shaken but unhurt, Shelnut crawled from his mount, finished for the evening.
On the restart it was now Anderson in Kay's mirror, but the race-long leader would pay him little attention as they ran to the checkers in the same fashion with defending series champion Rick Carlton third over newcomer Mike Bresnahan and Jeff Scofield.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - COLUMBIA MOTORSPORTS PARK- 3-10-01
LAKE CITY, Fla - Former Florida Pro Series champion Dick Anderson continued his domination of the 2001 tour as he led from lap eight on to win Saturday night's 125 lap main event at Columbia Motorsports Park.
Michael Williams led from his pole starting position and he out dragged Richard Pratt on the start to pace the 26 car field on the banked half-mile oval. Anderson, who started from the third row in Jimmy Harris' mount, quickly worked toward the front and shadowed Williams from the fifth lap. When Williams slipped up the track on lap seven it opened the door for Anderson and he took the lead and never looked back.
Possibly the best show of the evening was watching James Powell III bring the Gilbert Allen entry from dead last after his car failed to meet the weight requirements following time trials. This veteran driver with many laps here wasted no time in slicing his way toward the point. Several cautions plagued the run and despite some bent cars and ruffled feathers there were no injuries throughout. Powell got as far as third and could advance no further as he took the checkers behind top rookie Shane Sawyer.
Fast qualifier Jonny Kay claimed third money while Scott Grossenbacher survived a late race tangle with Glenn Whitney to round out the top five. The second five consisted of Mike Bresnahan, Jonathan Brown, Jeff Emery, defening series champion Rick Carlton and Whitney.
The Florida Pro tour now moves to the Miami area on April 14 for the third event of the season at famed Hialeah Speedway.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - DESOTO SPEEDWAY - 2-25-01
BRADENTON, Fla. - Former series champion Dick Anderson played the waiting game until the waning laps then moved to the lead with 10 laps remaining and sped to victory in Sunday afternoon's annual Icebreaker 125 for Florida Pro Series late models at DeSoto Speedway.
A sunsplashed crowd saw 28 of the top late model runners in the state take the green flag with Jonathan Brown's black No. 9 pacing the field on the banked 3/8 mile oval. James Powell III, fast qualifer Shane Sawyer and Richard Till joined Brown in blasting through traffic in fighter plane formation for the first 90 circuits.
Powell, trying to work under Brown, made contact and both spun and were sent to the tail of the field as Sawyer now took the point. Anderson, who started Jimmy Harris' familiar orange and white No. 00 thirteenth, was now on Sawyer's rear bumper and the race was on.
Sawyer's car seemed to be slowing ever so slightly and finally Anderson, with a late race head of steam off turn two, made minimal contact and drove under Sawyer for the top spot on lap 115. Anderson reached the stripe ahead of Sawyer, Till, Pete Orr and Jonny Kay. Canadian visitor Bill Zardo topped the 20 lap B Main to gain entry to the 125 lapper and was trailed by Mac Johnson and rookie David Logan.
